LaRue L. Lauaki

I was born in Hilo, the big island of Hawaii and I have had a passion for drawing and painting since childhood.  The compulsion to observe, draw and paint has been with me throughout my life.
As I furthered my education in art, I was inspired by great professors.  I do a variety of paintings, but prefer still life and landscapes. I enjoy using oil paints it allows me to add volume through my own techniques and opens the eyes to core shadows, mid tones, and light.  These formal qualities give greater volume to my work that become the formula for a better painting.
Painting has become a part of my life.
